All you could want to know about Christopher's work as a tenor

 

Christopher has been singing professionally for about 30 years, after graduating from King's College, Cambridge where he sang in the choir and read Economics and Music. He wasn't very good at Economics.

Highlights have included singing Roderigo in Verdi's Otello at Covent Garden under Carlos Kleiber, War Requiem in the Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires under Steuart Bedford, Britten's Nocturne with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Oliver Knussen, Henze's Voices with Knussen and the London Sinfonietta at the BBC Proms, and Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea for Los Angeles Opera.

Having sung Flute in A Midsummer Night's Dream at La Scala, Milan in June 2009, Christopher sang three performances in a new production of the opera at the newly-restored Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, followed by two performances in Reggio Emilia in early November. 

Christopher has now sung A Midsummer Night's Dream over 100 times. Here is a list of productions and venues.

In December Christopher sang The Christmas Story by Heinrich Schutz with the English Concert in St John's Smith Square, conductor Harry Bicket. In March he sings Elgar's Coronation Ode in King's Chapel, Cambridge, conductor Sir Philip Ledger.

In April, Christopher retruns to La Scala Milan to sing Rector Horace Adams in a new production of Peter Grimes directed by Richard Jones, conductor Robin Ticciati. Performances are in May and June.

Also in June he sings Berlioz Te Deum, again in King's Chapel, conductor Graeme Jenkins. 

Looking much further ahead, in autumn 2013 Christopher will be in an exciting world premiere - The Harlot's Progress by Iain Bell (with a libretto by Peter Ackroyd) - in Vienna's Theater an der Wien, featuring Diana Damrau and Nathan Gunn, conductor Donald Runnicles.
